Shōkadō garden
Birthplace of Shōkadō Bento
The highlight of Shōkadō Garden is its beautifully kept garden of course.
Shōkadō Shōjō Yukari, the Shinto shrine priest of Iwashimizu Hachiman-gū during the early Edo period, was inspired by his favorite four-compartment bento to develop the area's specialty product, the Shōkadō Bento.
There are about 40 kinds of bamboo growing, in addition to plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, Japanese camellia, and green maple leaves.
The combination of beautiful vegetation and mesmerizing scenery manifests the four seasons in one localized setting.
A popular attraction among tourists is the tea house where you can drink matcha while enjoying the view of the garden.

※ As a result of the earthquake and typhoon in June and September in 2018, cultural buildings・teahouse have suffered structural damage. As such, please contact us for more information.
