Iwashimizu Hachimangū was designated a national treasure in February 2016.
Locals of Yawata City treasure this place as "Hachimansan".
The main part of the shrine is scarlet-lacquered which mesmerizes those who come to worship.
The God of Hachiman who brings peace and prosperity is worshipped at Iwashimizu Hachimangū. As known throughout Japan, prayers for victory, business success, family safety, and protection from danger can be made here.
Since Iwashimizu Hachimangū is located in Otokoyama-sanjō, you must ride the Otokoyama Cable Line and walk a short distance to pray. However, you are also encouraged to try praying during the cable car ride.
The cable car ride is only a short 3 minutes. While short, it is still possible to enjoy the fresh verdure of spring, the red leaves of fall, and sometimes the snowy landscape of winter.
Additionally, after the ride, you can also visit the nearby Otokoyama Observatory, where you can see a panoramic view of the inner Kyoto city and its rows of sakura trees.
